Danny and Michael Philippou No Longer Directing Street Fighter Movie

Legendary’s new Street Fighter film has lost its directors in Talk to Me’s Danny and Michael Philippou. THR reports that the Australian duo have exited the planned film due to scheduling concerns.

According to the report, Legendary wants to ramp up production on the film sooner and the Philippous are gearing up to direct Bring Her Back for A24, which shoots later this month. That left the video game film looking for a new director.

The Street Fighter franchise has not had the best luck on the big screen in the US, with the 1994 Jean-Claude Van Damme film being less successful than expected and 2009’s Street Fighter: The Legend of Chun-Li bombing. No word on who might be next to take up the new adaptation.
