Darby Stanchfield Joins Netflix’s Locke & Key
Deadline reports that Darby Stanchfield is set to star as Nina Locke in Netflix’ adaptation of the Joe Hill comic series Locke & Key. The horror-fantasy series will be produced by Hill, Carlton Cuse and IDW Entertainment.
Here’s a synopsis: Locke & Key revolves around siblings Kinsey, Tyler and Bode (Emilia Jones, Connor Jessup and Jackson Robert Scott) who, after the gruesome murder of their father, move to their ancestral home in Massachusetts only to find the house has magical keys that give them a vast array of powers and abilities. Little do they know, a devious demon also wants the keys, and will stop at nothing to attain them. After the traumatic home attack, Nina Locke moves her family across the country to Keyhouse for a fresh start — and also to solve the mystery surrounding her late husband Rendell’s murder. She struggles with her new role as a single mom, as Rendell was always more the traditional parent type. She’s much more comfortable as an artist and house renovator.
Nina Locke was played by Miranda Otto in the 2011 FOX pilot and Frances O’Connor in the Hulu pilot, both of which never made it to series. The new series was written by Hill and Aron Eli Coleite, with Cuse and Meredith Averill as showrunners.
