David Cross says that the upcoming fifth season of Arrested Development is likely to be the end. Cross appeared on the Late Night With Seth Meyers Podcast and talked about the upcoming season, which will run eight episodes and bow in 2019.

Asked whether this would be the end, Cross said, “I’ve learned to say ‘Never say never,’ but I can’t see it happening again, I think for a number of reasons.”

The acclaimed comedy series has been difficult to put together for Netflix in both its fourth and fifth seasons due to the ensemble cast’s busy schedules. Adding to that is the fact that Jeffrey Tambor was fired from Transparent over multiple sexual harassment claims and, while the cast stood by Tambor, a New York Times interview in December of last year drew fire after several co-stars minimized co-star Jessica Walter’s tearful admission that Tambor verbally “harrassed me, but he did apologize” and that in “almost 60 years of working, I’ve never had anybody yell at me like that on a set.” Netflix ultimately cancelled press activities for the show in the wake of the claims against Tambor on Transparent.

Cross said that the new episodes should arrive “at the beginning of the new year.”
