Henry Cavill, John Cena & More Set For Spy Thriller Argylle
Matthew Vaughn has set up a big ensemble cast for his upcoming spy thriller Argylle including Henry Cavill, John Cena, and more. Variety reports that the film, which will be directed by the Kingsman helmer and produced through his MARV shingle, will star Henry Cavill, Sam Rockwell, Bryce Dallas Howard, Bryan Cranston, Catherine O’Hara, Cena, pop star Dua Lipa, and Samuel L. Jackson.
The film is based on a novel by Ellie Conway and follows the exploits of Argylle, a super-spy who moves across the US, the UK and elsewhere. The film is bring written by Jason Fuchs (Wonder Woman) and is being envisioned as the first in a franchise with at least three films planned by the studio.
“When I read this early draft manuscript I felt it was the most incredible and original spy franchise since Ian Fleming’s books of the ’50s,” said Vaughan. “This is going to reinvent the spy genre.”
Zygi Kamasa, CEO of MARV said: “We are delighted that we will be starting our fourth, and by far the biggest, feature film production since the start of the global pandemic. It demonstrates both our desire to scale up our production activity and our ambition to continue to launch new franchises beyond the ‘Kingsman’ series of films.”
The film is expected to begin production in Europe this August.
