The Jason Bourne is looking to find a new home as the franchise’s rights have left Universal Pictures. According to The Hollywood Reporter, WME is shopping the rights to the blockbuster film franchise as well as the rest of the Robert Ludlum library on behalf of the author’s estate.

The move is an attempt to find a new home for the Bourne franchise and bring him back to the screen. The last film, Jason Bourne, was released in 2016. There’s no word as to yet on whether Matt Damon would be involved in a new version of the franchise.

The report notes that Skydance, Apple and Netflix have all met with the estate about the franchise’s rights and that Universal could possibly win back the rights with the right bid.

The Bourne franchise kicked off on the big screen with 2002’s The Bourne Identity and has grossed over $1.6 billion worldwide through the five entries in the series. The most recent entry, while it drew a mixed critical reaction, still grossed $415.5 mllion worldwide against a $120 million budget.
