Jenna Ortega Teases More Horror For Wednesday Season Two
The second season of Netflix’s Wednesday will lean more into horror than season one, according to star Jenna Ortega. Ortega plays the titular character in the hit supernatural drama, and is an executive producer on the upcoming second season. Speaking with Elle Fanning for a new Variety feature, she talked about taking on the bigger role behind the scenes and their plan for the new season. You can see some highlights below:
On working as an EP on season two: “With a character like Wednesday, who is so beloved, I didn’t want to get her wrong. So I tried to have as many conversations as possible with the writers. We’d decide what works and what doesn’t. In preparation for a second season, we wanted to make sure that we could start the conversations earlier. I’m just so curious: I want to see the outfits, new characters, scripts.”
On their plan for season two: “It’s still coming together, but we’ve decided we want to lean into the horror more. We’re ditching any romantic love interest, which is really great. We’re going to get bolder, more dark.”
The series does not yet have a premiere date, especially with the current WGA strike holding it up along with other productions.
