February 13, 2018 | Posted by Joseph Lee

TMZ reports that Jerry Seinfeld has been sued by Christian Charles over his show Comedians in Cars Getting Coffee. The producer claims he pitched a similar idea to Seinfeld in 2002, but the comedian turned him down and said he wasn’t interested.

Charles then claimed that Seinfeld called him again in 2011 and asked about the idea, then they shot the pilot with Seinfeld driving. Seinfeld and his team come up with the production budgets and marketing plans. However, Seinfeld became angry that Charles claimed ownership interest and wanted to be paid accordingly. Charles was cut from the show, which was made without him. Charles claims that Seinfeld is earning $750,000 per episode. Charles wants a “created by” credit and financial compensation.

Seinfeld’s attorney Orin Snyder said: “This lawsuit is delusional. Jerry independently created ‘Comedians in Cars’ and Mr. Charles only concocted this claim after the show became a commercial success. We are confident that this shakedown lawsuit will go nowhere.
