Star Wars: Skeleton Crew will be arriving on Disney+ later this year, and Jon Favreau recently recalled how the plan was to give the series a Spielberg tone. Favreau spoke about the upcoming series with EW and talked about how series creators Jon Watts and Chris Ford pitched it to Kathleen Kennedy. You can check out some highlights below:

On the show’s pitch: “With Kathy Kennedy running Lucasfilm, when Jon Watts and Chris Ford came in and talked about wanting to do something that feels like an Amblin movie and has that tone, it’s like you’re speaking right to the person who was there and knows the 11 herbs and spices that go into it. So it’s interesting hearing them pitch it and how she reacts to that.”

On the show having a different feel than The Mandalorian: “As long as you adhere to a certain aesthetic, and we all agree that it feels like it’s Star Wars, there’s a lot of room for how you can move around. It’s interesting too, as you see at the [Star Wars Celebration] panel and these great trailers, how different they all are. But they all sit together. You would never group them together, but thanks to the world that George created, they all feel like they share a common underlying aesthetic.”

The series takes place after the events after Return of the Jedi and will follow four four kids seeking to find their way home in the galaxy. Jude Law is playing a Force user in the film, though details on his role are being kept under wraps. Star Wars: Skeleton Crew will release later in 2023.
