Spider-Man: No Way Home will feature the multiverse going wild, but Tom Holland says that had that not panned out the backup plan involved Kraven the Hunter. Holland and Zendaya spoke with Collider for a new interview promoting the film, and talked about how the complicated matter of bringing in villains from the other Spider-Man films was a shaky proposition at times.

Zendaya noted that she didn’t initially believe rumors that the film’s multiverse story would come to pass, noting, “When I first heard about [the multiverse], I was like, ‘okay cool, but that’s definitely not going to happen.'” Holland added that there was a plan for the film’s story as a backup plan which featured Kraven the Hunter.

“For a long time, there was going to be a Kraven movie that was going to be the third movie because things weren’t working out and all sorts of different stuff,” he said. “Jon pitched me this Kraven movie, which actually was really cool. I don’t want to talk about it in case that movie ends up happening down the line, but it was fun.”

The film is set to release on December 17th and will star Tom Holland, Benedict Cumberbatch, Zendaya, Jacob Batalon, Jon Favreau, Marisa Tomei, JB Smoove and Benedict Wong.
