Despite some old rumors to the contrary, Indiana Jones 5 will not be a reboot according to Kathleen Kennedy. The Lucasfilm head spoke with the BBC at the BAFTAs and said that the script is being worked on, but confirmed it would not be a restart of the franchise.

“We’re working away, getting the script where we want it to be and then we’ll be ready to go.” Kennedy said, adding, “Harrison Ford will be involved, yeah. It’s not a reboot; it’s a continuation.”

The fifth film currently has a July 9, 2021 release date set. Other than Ford returning, not much is known about the film. The last film, Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull, was released in 2008 and was a big hit despite the lukewarm reception to it.
