Keanu Reeves To Star In Hulu’s The Devil In the White City
The long-gestating The Devil In the White City series is officially a go, with Keanu Reeves set to star in it. Hulu announced today (per Deadline) that Reeves will star in the adaptation of Erik Larson’s book, which is centered around the story of the infamous serial killer H.H. Holmes and the 1893 World’s Fair.
Reeves will play Daniel H. Burnham in the series, described as “a demanding but visionary architect who races to make his mark on history with the 1893 Chicago World’s Fair.” Holmes, who famously created a “Murder Castle” in the shadow of the Fair, has not been announced as cast yet.
The novel has been targeted for an adaptation for over 12 years now, with DiCaprio buying the rights back in 2010 with an eye to star and Scorsese directing. The project was brought to Hulu in 2019.
The eight-episode series marks Reeves’ first major US television role and will begin shooting next year for a 2024 launch. Sam Shaw is writing the series and will serve as showrunner, with Todd Field directing. Both are executive producers alongside Scorsese, Rick Yorn, DiCaprio and Jennifer Davisson for Appian Way, Stacey Sher, Lila Byock, and Mark Lafferty.
