Kevin Feige Says Kang Is A ‘New Kind of Bad’ In the MCU
Kang the Conquerer arrives in the MCU with Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania, and Kevin Feige recently discussed how he represents a new kind of threat to the film’s world. The Marvel Studios head spoke with Empire Magazine promoting the February 17th release and talked about Jonathan Majors’ villain, who is shaping up to be the new big villain for the MCU.
“He is the obvious choice as you’re dealing with the Multiverse,” Feige told the outlet. “Kang allowed us to do a new kind of Big Bad. He’s a different type of villain, warring amongst themselves as much as he’s warring with our heroes. Kang’s a very powerful person, but when we meet him he’s in a position where he needs to get that power back. He has a ship and a device that would allow him to go anywhere, and anywhen he wants if he can get it online. If only he had access to genius scientists with Pym particles.”
Majors previously played He Who Remains, who appears to have been a variant of Kang, in Loki season one. Kang appears likely to contiue for the MCU for a while, as the next big Avengers film is subtitled The Kang Dynasty and arrives in 2025.
