Live-Action Gargoyles Series In Works At Disney+
The long-rumored live-action Gargoyles series is a go, with Disney+ reportedly developing the project. THR reports that Gary Dauberman and James Wan’s Atomic Monster are teaming up to bring the fan-favorite 1990s animated series to live action for the service.
Dauberman (It, Swamp Thing, Annabelle) will write, write, executive produce and showrun the series while Atomic Monster will executive produce. The project is currently in early development.
Gargoyles ran from 1994 to 1997 and centered on a group of gargoyles who awaken from a thousand-year-old spell after being moved to New York City and become protectors of the city. The series was among several like Batman: The Animated Series and X-Men: The Animated Series that tapped into pop culture consciousness and brought darker, more complex storylines to after-school animation.
