Death is rarely forever in Marvel Comics, and the Hulk is no exception. Marvel has announced that Bruce Banner will be returning from the dead in Avengers #684, which is on sale in March. The original Hulk will return as part of the Avengers “No Surrender” arc, which has seen the Earth get stolen and the Avengers pitted as “obstacles” in a cosmic content between the Lethal Legion and the Black Order, each fighting a battle for their respective masters — the Challenger and the Grandmaster, respectively.

The announcement for the Hulk’s return reads:

“Bruce Banner is back. He’s angry. And you’ve never seen a Hulk this angry before.

The iconic goliath officially returns in all his green glory starting with Avengers #684, on sale this March – and it’s not your typical Hulk return, either! This Bruce Banner, unprovoked and unchecked, will take you on a frightening adventure as he battles to save the universe.”

A teaser trailer for the return is below. Bruce Banner died during Marvel’s Civil War II storyline in September of 2016, and was temporarily resurrected by Hydra’s Arnim Zola during last year’s Secret Empire event so that the evil Captain America could use him to attack The Underground’s secret base in Las Vegas. Banner seemingly died there, and his body was left in the rubble of the base.
