Masters of the Universe: Revelation Gets an All-Star Cast, Mark Hamill to Voice Skeletor
The upcoming Masters of the Universe: Revelation animated series just had its official voice-over cast list announced by Netflix. The show, which is being executive produced by Kevin Smith, is going to feature an all-star lineup of talent, including Star Wars star Mark Hamill as Skeletor. You can check out the full cast list below.
Notable among the cast list are Game of Thrones stars Lena Headey as Skeletor’s second-in-command, Evil-Lyn, and Liam Cunningham as He-Man’s mentor and ally, Duncan/Man-At-Arms. Alan Oppenheimer, who voiced Skeletor in the classic Filmation animated He-Man and the Masters of the Universe show will be voicing Moss-Man in the new series. He-Man/Prince Adam will be voiced by Chris Wood. Sarah Michelle Gellar of Buffy the Vampire Slayer fame will be voicing Teela.
Also notable on this list is the character He-Ro (Phil LaMarr). There are actually two people who have carried the name He-Ro in MOTU lore. One is the original He-Ro, who was retroactively made He-Man’s ancestor in the Masters of the Universe Classics toyline. He-Ro was a character originally planned for a spinoff Masters of the Universe toyline in the 1980s called the Powers of Greyskull. He-Ro would’ve been one of the heroes of Eternia in the distant past, also called “Preternia.”
The second was He-Ro II, the son of Adam/He-Man. The second He-Ro was the alter-ego of Dare, who was Adam’s son and became the new hero of Eternia. He-Ro is being voiced in the series by Phil LaMarr.
Smith’s longtime collaborator, Jason Mewes (Jay of Jay and Silent Bob), will be voicing Stinkor. Smith’s daughter, Harley Quinn Smith, is voicing a character named Ileena, a character who appeared in the original Filmation animated series.
Interestingly enough, Kevin Conroy, who is best known for his longtime voice-over work as Batman in animation and games, is voicing Mer-Man of all characters. Conroy and Hamill frequently voiced opposite each other as Batman and The Joker respectively in frequent animation and game projects including Batman: The Animated Series, Justice League, and the Batman Arkham game series.
