Matthew Vaughn Says He Wants To Reboot Kick-Ass
In an interview with Empire (via Coming Soon), director Matthew Vaughn spoke about his plans to reboot the Kick-Ass series, make several new Kingsman movies and more.
He said that the plans for a Kick-Ass reboot are currently being discussed, with a brand new film and a Hit-Girl solo film in development. It’s unknown if they will focus on Dave Lizewski (the original) or Patience Lee (the new Kick-Ass in the comics). There’s also no word on if Hit-Girl will be the younger version or an older one. Vaughn said: “Look what Mark Millar is doing with the comic for clues.” In the comics, Hit-Girl travels the world killing those who hurt others.
Meanwhile, Vaughn is hoping to make a third Kingsman film that concludes the Harry Hart-Eggsy relationship, and a spin-off about the group in the early 20th century called Kingsman: The Great Game. He said the two films will shoot back-to-back. He also wants an eight-hour TV series, but offered no details. Finally, he wants to make a film about the Statesmen, the American version of the group revealed in the sequel.
