Natalie Portman Open to a Return to the Marvel Cinematic Universe
Natalie Portman is open to reprising her role as Jane Foster in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, though she hasn’t heard anything about it yet. Portman spoke with Screen Rant promoting her new film Annihilation and discussed the possibility of returning as Jane, a role she played in Thor and Thor: The Dark World.
“I’m completely open to everything, but I have no news about that,” Portman said with a laugh when asked about it.
Portman did not appear as Jane in Thor: Ragnarok, with a line in the film indicating that she broke off her relationship with Thor. In the comics, Jane eventually picks up Mjolnir herself when Thor is deemed unworthy and becomes Thor, in an acclaimed run written by Jason Aaron. The site notes that Chris Hemsworth’s contract with Marvel Studios is complete and, should he not sign on for more films, bringing Jane in could be a way to keep a Thor in the films. That is, of course, all just speculation at this point.
Thor: Ragnarock hits digital HD on on February 20th, while Annihilation opens in theaters on February 23rd.
