Netflix Hit With $25 Million Lawsuit From “Choose Your Own Adventure” Books Over Bandersnatch

TMZ reports that Chooseco, the people behind the “Choose Your Own Adventure” book series, have filed a $25 million lawsuit against Netflix for using their idea without getting permission in Bandersnatch. In the lawsuit, Chooseco says they have been in negotiations with Netflix for years about developing projects based on their “Choose Your Own Adventure” concept but no deal was ever reached, and then Netflix used the concept anyway in Bandersnatch, which allows users to choose their own path, leading to multiple endings.
The suit goes on to claim that Netflix deliberately tried to tie the film to the 80s and 90s nostalgia connected to the “Choose Your Own Adventure” books, including “Choose Your Own Adventure” being mentioned at the start of the film.
The complaint goes on that Bandersnatch features dark and violent themes which damage the “Choose Your Own Adventure” brand since Chooseco’s books are aimed at children.
