Assassin’s Creed is getting another go at a live-action adaptation, with a series at Netflix in the works. Netflix has announced that they’re teaming with Ubisoft for new scripted content, among them a live-action television series based on the video game franchise.

Ubisoft Film & Television’s Jason Altman and Danielle Kreinik will executive produce the series, which is the second attempt at a live-action project based on the hit video game IP. 20th Century Fox relseased a live-action film that, despite some serious star power in Michael Fassbender, Marion Cotillard, Jeremy Irons and Brendan Gleeson, was lambasted by critics and disappointed at the box office when it released in December of 2016.

“We’re excited to partner with Ubisoft and bring to life the rich, multilayered storytelling that Assassin’s Creed is beloved for,” said Netfix VP of Original Series Peter Friedlander. “From its breathtaking historical worlds and massive global appeal as one of the best selling video game franchises of all time, we are committed to carefully crafting epic and thrilling entertainment based on this distinct IP and provide a deeper dive for fans and our members around the world to enjoy.”

The video game franchise has sold over 155 million copies over 11 games, the first of which released in 2007 which makes it one of the highest-selling video game franchises of all time.
