Netflix In Talks For Live-Action Scooby-Doo Series

Netflix is set to bring a live-action Scooby-Doo series to the screen. Variety reports that the streamer is nearing a deal for a script-to-series commitment for the planned one-hour drama series, which will be based on the Hanna-Barbera cartoon.

Plot details are being kept under wraps for the series, which is set up at Warner Bros. TV. WB TV will produce the series, which will be written by Josh Appelbaum and Scott Rosenberg. The two will also executive producer the series alongside André Nemec and Jeff Pinkner under their Midnight Radio production company. Berlanti Productions’ Greg Berlanti, Sarah Schechter, and Leigh London Redman will also executive produce while Jonathan Gabay of Berlanti Productions and Adrienne Erickson will co-executive produce.

Scooby-Doo was previously brought to live action with the Scooby-Doo film, which released in 2002 and starred Freddie Prinze Jr., Sarah Michelle Gellar, Matthew Lillard, and Linda Cardellini. It earned a sequel, Scooby-Doo: Monsters Unleashed which hit theaters in 2004. The two films grossed a combined $430 million worldwide.
