Young and the Restless Star Sasha Calle Set to Star In Supergirl
Deadline reports that Sasha Calle (The Young and the Restless) is set for the lead role in Supergirl. Calle becomes the first Latina Supergirl in the DC Universe after being chosen from more than 425 actresses who auditioned. She is set to make her feature film debut in The Flash.
The Flash director Andy Muschietti was reportedly blown away by Calle’s audition and, in particular, the toughness and vulnerability she was able to bring to the role.
“I saw more than four hundred auditions. The talent pool was truly amazing and it was very hard to make a decision, but we finally found an actress who was destined to play this role,” said Muschietti.
The casting process is somewhat similar to how Gal Gadot ended up being picked to play Wonder Woman. Gadot ended up making her DC debut as Wonder Woman in Batman vs. Superman: Dawn of Justice before starring in Wonder Woman.
Calle has been nominated for a Daytime Emmy for her role as Lola Rosales on The Young and the Restless.
