During their panel at San Diego Comic-Con, the Joe and Anthony Russo noted that they’re working on film versions of indie comic Grimjack and animated series Battle Of The Planets. At the panel, which 411 was in attendance for, the brothers noted that they are producing the Grimjack film but won’t direct, while Battle of the Planets may see them take the directorial reigns.

Grimjack was created by John Ostrander (Suicide Squad) and Timothy Truman (Jonah Hex) and was published by First Comics (and now IDW Publishing). The series follows John Gaunt, a sword-for-hire war veteran and his crew as they dig through their pasts after the titular mercenary’s teenage daughter comes to them for help in the pan-dimensional city entitled Cynosure. The Russos noted that it and Battle of the Planets will be produced through their production company ABGO, which they want to use to help open the doors for young aspiring filmmakers in the same way Steven Soderbergh did for them.

Meanwhile, the Battle of the Planets film is still early in development without a writer attached. It would be based on the American adaptation of the 1970s anime Science Ninja Team Gatchaman. It follows a group of five young people known as G-Force who protect the Earth from the planet Spectra and any other extraterrestrial foes.
