David Dastmalchian’s festival favorite Late Night with the Devil is headed to IFC and Shudder. Variety reports that the companies have acquired the North American, UK & Ireland rights to the film, which premiered at South by Southwest. The plan is to release the film in theaters, with a streaming release on Shudder at a later time.

The found footage-style film is set on Halloween evening in 1977 and centers on Jack Delroy (Dastmalchian) and his popular late night talk show. Delory is facing declining viewership and decides to to a live episode with a teenage girl (Ingrid Torelli) who was the sole survivor of a Satanic church’s mass suicide — and allegedly possessed. Suffice it to say, things do not go well.

Late Night With The Devil is an exhilarating demonstration of how the horror genre continues to present new and exciting storytelling. We’re delighted to partner with Cameron and Colin, Image Nation, and Spooky Pictures on the release of the film as we continue to work with some of the industry’s most talented filmmakers,” said Emily Gotto, Shudder’s vice president of global acquisitions and co-productions.

Dastmalchian added, “Playing Jack Delroy in Late Night With the Devil was a once-in-a-lifetime role that haunted me and changed the way I look at my work forever. IFC Films and Shudder are the perfect partners to bring this film to audiences. I’m so grateful to the Cairnes brothers for their craftsmanship and to all of the festival fans who have created an incredible rumble about Late Night With the Devil!”
