Sigourney Weaver Has Read Walter Hill’s Alien Sequel Treatment
Walter Hill has an idea for a new Alien film, and franchise star Sigourney Weaver says she’s read it. Weaver spoke with Empire for a new interview and discussed how Hill, who has worked on the story and script for a couple of the films and produced every movie in the franchise, has an idea for a fifth movie that would bring her back as Ellen Ripley one last time.
Weaver noted that Hill sent her a 50 page treatment for a sequel, but noted that she didn’t know if it would be made as Ridley Scott has been focused on the prequels of Prometheus, Alien: Covenant and his hoped-for (if somewhat unlikely based on Covenant’s failure) final prequel.
“I don’t know,” she said about the franchise’s future. “Ridley has gone in a different direction. Maybe Ripley has done her bit. She deserves a rest.”
Weaver had been attached to a film that Neill Blomkamp was set to write and direct that would have ignored Alien 3 and Alien: Resurrection, but that film was scrapped due to Scott’s prequel series.
