Sony Chairman Gives Update on Spider-Man 4, Hopes Whole Cast Returns
Sony is looking ahead to the future of the Spider-Man franchise, and Sony Pictures Chairman Tom Rothman recently gave an update on their plans for the Marvel franchise. Rothman spoke with Deadline for a new interview and when talking about the studios’ franchise, noted that “We hope to get working on the next Spider-Man movie.”
Rothman went on to note that they are hoping to have the full primary cast and crew of Tom Holland, Zendaya, and John Watts to return, saying, “That whole group, we hope. Then there are movies I would call adjunct to the Spider-Man universe. That’s Kraven, which we’re shooting now, and Madame Web, which we’ll start in the spring with S.J. Clarkson directing. And then there are many Marvel characters that are standalone.”
Spider-Man: No Way Home ended 2021 on a high note for Sony and Marvel, and Sony continued the success with the newest franchise in Uncharted in February. No Way Home grossed $804.6 million domestically and $1.888 billion worldwide for the studios.
