Reports from Deadline confirm that Sony Pictures has brokered an agreement with the Edgar Rice Burroughs estate to acquire the film rights to Tarzan. No names are attached to whatever project or production will first arise from the deal, as any plans are still in the very early stages. Use of the character in film dates back to 1918, with the most recent iteration being Warner Bros.’ 2016 The Legend of Tarzan starring Alexander Skarsgård.
