Squid Game Joins Ozark, Umbrella Academy & More In 3 Billion Minutes Club
Squid Game is continuing to soar as one of Netflix’s biggest hits, crossing a rarely-achieved mark of 3 billion minutes watched in a week at the start of the month. Deadline reports that according to Nielsen’s US streaming rankings for the week ending October 3rd, the South Korean series dominated streaming with 3.26 billion minutes viewed over its nine episodes.
That puts the series in a rare category that includes only Tiger King, Ozark, You, The Umbrella Academy, and The Crown. Of those shows (all of which are on Netflix), only two have done it more than once. Ozark has hit the milestone three times, while Tiger King did it twice.
Elsewhere in that week’s rankings, Netflix’s Midnight Mass came in a distance second with 1.17 billion minutes over its seven episodes, followed by the streamer’s Maid. Kid’s show CoCoMelon was fourth, followed by NCIS and Lucifer. The full top 10 is below:
