Starz’ The Confidential series which is spinning off from John Wick is aiming for a premiere after the fourth film hits. Starz President/CEO Jeffrey Hirsch said at the TCA winter press tour (per Deadline) that the show is targeting a date sometime after May 21st, 2021. That’s when the as-yet-untitled fourth film in the Keanu Reeves-led series is set to release.

“I had a meeting on a season pitch for this yesterday,” Hirsch said. “We like the group of writers, and we’re trying to get it in the right place so it doesn’t interfere with the motion picture. It will air sometime after the fourth movie.”

The series was first announced back in January of 2018. It will be set in the hotel that serves as a sanctuary for assassins, which has been a major feature of the film trilogy to date, and tell its origins.

In addition to the fourth John Wick, Lionsgate is at work on a spinoff film Ballerina, which Len Wiseman will direct. John Wick: Chapter 3 – Parabellum continued to build on the franchise’s financial succes; its $326.7 million worldwide take was almost double that of John Wick: Chapter 2’s $171.3 million, itself more than twice the $76.2 million worldwide take of the first film. More impressively, Parabellum managed that number with the same $40 million production budget of Chapter 2.
