Swamp Thing for DC Universe Canceled by Warner Bros.

Before the second episode has even been released, the DC Universe streaming TV series, Swamp Thing, has already been canceled during its first season. Deadline.com reports that DC Universe will not pick up the show for a second season. The show debuted on the service on May 31.

Swamp Thing comes from James Wan’s Atomic Monster in association with Warner Bros. Television. The report notes that the DC Universe service is being reevaluated now that the AT&T acquisition of TIme Warner and WarnerMedia has been completed. The reevaluation process is reportedly putting an emphasis on the recently launched digital streaming service. Additionally, the article notes that there are questions on how DC Universe fits into future plans.

Per the report, there was talk that the new leadership at WarnerMedia not being high on the Swamp Thing show, which had its episode order reduced from 13 episodes to 10 last April.

Previously, DC Universe’s Titans was renewed for Season 2. The second show, Doom Patrol, is still waiting for word on a renewal. Another new drama being produced for the service is Stargirl.
