Taika Waititi in Talks for Role in James Gunn’s Suicide Squad 2

Deadline reports that filmmaker Taika Waititi is in talks for a role in James Gunn’s upcoming film Suicide Squad 2 for DC and Warner Bros. The role Gunn has in mind for Waititi is currently unknown.

A table reading is set for the project on September 11. Production is reportedly slated to begin on September 23. Waititi would join the cast for the upcoming sequel alongside Margot Robbie (Harley Quinn), Viola Davis (Amanda Waller), Jai Courtney (Captain Boomerang), Joel Kinnaman (Rick Flag). Idris Elba, David Dastmalchian (Polka-Dot Man), Daniela Melchior (Ratcatcher), Flula Borg, Steve Agee (King Shark) and Nathan Fillion.

Gunn wrote is directing the film from his own script. Chuck Roven and Peter Safran are producing the picture. The Suicide Squad sequel is set to arrive in theaters on August 6, 2021.

Taika Waititi also directs an episode of The Mandalorian debuting on Disney+ later this fall and portrays the character IG-11. Additionally, he’s attached to direct Thor: Love and Thunder for Marvel Studios, which is due out November 5, 2021. His latest movie, Jojo Rabbit, arrives in theaters on October 18.
