Warning: Spoilers follow for The Mandalorian’s season two finale.

Boba Fett is launching into his own project in The Book of Boba Fett, which is coming in just about a year. During Friday’s season two finale of The Mandalorian, a post-credits stinger revealed that the project is arriving in December of 2021. The stinger showed Fett (Temuera Morrison), with Fennec Shand (Ming-Na Wen) at his side, shooting their way into Jabba the Hutt’s old palace where Jabba’s old Twilek advisor Bib Fortuna was reigning. As Fennec freed a chained Twi’lek dancer, Fortuna tried to play nice only to get shot and yanked off Jabba’s throne. Fett then took a seat on the thrones as Fennec grabbed some libations for herself, and a title card reading “The Book of Boba Fett” promised a December 2021 arrival.

Some are speculating that this could be the new arc for season three of The Mandalorian, which was renewed at Disney Investor Day last week, as opposed to a Boba Fett spinoff series. After all, The Mandalorian will also launch in December. However, Deadline maintains that this is the spinoff series that they had reported on but was not mentioned at the Investor Day presentation. It makes sense, to be sure; after all, while he is dressed in Mandalorian armor, Fett is not a Mandalorian so the title wouldn’t make much sense.

The Book of Boba Fett, if in fact a new Disney+ series as it seems to be, joins The Rangers of the New Republic, Lando, Star Wars: Visions, The Acolyte, and Ahsoka as newly-announced series coming to Disney+ along with the previously-announced Obi-Wan and the Rogue One prequel series Andor.
