The New Mutants TV Spot Shows More Power Use, Magik Battling Demon Bear

A new TV spot for The New Mutants is online, giving us an opportunity to see more mutant powers and the sheer badassery of Ilyana Rasuptin. You can see the spot below courtesy of 20th Century Studios for the horror-themed X-Men film. The ad gives us a look at Sam/Cannonball’s blasting (during which he’s nigh invulnerable!), Rahne/Wolfsbane’s shapeshifting, Bobby/Sunspot’s solar power and Ilyana/Magik’s sorcery. (Ilyana also has teleportation powers, but those aren’t on display here as they were in the recent trailer).

We also see Ilyana in combat with the Demon Bear that serves as the adversary of the film. When Bobby and Rahne warn her that it’s magic, she responds with a flash of power in her eyes and a “So am I.”

The film stars Anya Taylor-Joy, Maisie Williams, Charlie Heaton, Blu Hunt, Henry Zaga, and Alice Braga and opens on April 3rd. Written and directed by Josh Boone inspired by the “Demon Bear Saga” arc of the comic, the film is described as follows:

Five young mutants, just discovering their abilities while held in a secret facility against their will, fight to escape their past sins and save themselves.
