Transformers: One CG Animated Movie Will Star Chris Hemsworth as Young Optimus Prime, Due Out July 2024

Paramount Pictures and Nickelodeon Animation made several new animated feature announcements at the Thursday (April. 27) studio presentation for CinemaCon 2023, including one for the currently in-production animated Transformers film. Animation & Development President Ramsey Ann Naito announced new details on the upcoming CG-animated Transformers movie that’s currently in the works. The title has been revealed as Transformers: One, and the film is currently due out for a July 2024 release.

The new story will be entirely set on Cybertron and will depict the origin story of Optimus Prime and Megatron in their earlier years on their home planet of Cybertron. Naito also revealed the main voice cast, which will feature Chris Hemsworth (Avengers: Endgame, Thor: Love & Thunder) as the voice of young Optimus Prime. Voicing the younger Megatron will be Brian Tyree Henry (Bullet Train, Godzilla vs. Kong).

Rounding out the voice cast will be Scarlett Johansson (Black Widow, Marriage Story) as Elita, Jon Hamm (Mad Men, Million Dollar Arm) as Optimus Prime’s predecessor, Sentinel Prime, Keegan-Michael Key (The Super Mario Bros. Movie, The Predator) as Bumblebee, and Laurence Fishburne (The Matrix, John Wick: Chapter 4) as Alpha Trion.

Josh Cooley (Toy Story 4) is directing the animated feature from a script by Andrew Barrer and Gabriel Ferrari. Transformers: One will be hitting theaters on July 19, 2024. The next live-action installment of the franchise, Transformers: Rise of the Beasts hits theaters on June 9.
