The battle for Cybertron continues. Netflix dropped the latest trailer for the second season of the CG-animated series, Transformers: War for Cybertron. Season 2 is dubbed “Earthrise” and debuts on the streaming service later this month. You can check out the new trailer below.

Following the events of the first season, “Siege,” the crew of the Ark are lost in deep space and appear to fall into the clutches of the creators of the Cybertronians, the Quintessons. Meanwhile, the Autobots who were left on Cybertron continue the fight against Megatron, when the war for freedom on Cybertron appears to already be lost.

Interestingly enough, the trailer shows appearances from what appears to be Nemesis Prime, oftentimes the evil clone of Optimus Prime in Transformers media, and also Galvatron. Typically, Galvatron is the resurrected version of Megatron in G1-related Transformers fiction. However, Galvatron is shown conversing with Megatron in some form here.

With the already announced third season of the show being “Kingdom,” featuring a mix of both G1 and Beast Wars-era characters, this could suggest that some time travel shenanigans might in the works for the greater Transformers multiverse. Perhaps the Headmasters version of Galvatron finally got out from underneath an iceberg and is trying to realize his dream of transforming into Grand Galvatron.

Transformers: War for Cybertron Season 2, “Earthrise,” drops on Netflix on December 30. Here’s an official synopsis:

“The WAR FOR CYBERTRON continues with the second chapter, EARTHRISE! With the Allspark gone, Megatron is forced to confront the harsh reality that his Decepticons are trapped on a dying Cybertron while also fighting off the persistent threat of Elita-1 and her Autobots. Meanwhile, lost in the darkest reaches of space, Optimus Prime and his team embark on a desperate mission that will push them to the breaking point as they travel to uncharted new worlds to face spacefaring mercenaries, enigmatic figures from long ago and even their own creators…the Quintessons.”
