The Walking Dead’s bosses have issued a statement on Lauren Cohan’s departure from the show, and teased that she may be back. According to Uproxx, Chris Hardwick read a message from Angela Kang and CCO Scott Gimple about the future of Cohan and her character, Maggie.

“Maggie’s last episode this season was 905,” the statement read. “But it isn’t the end of Maggie’s story. We love Lauren Cohan and hope to have her back on the big program and or beyond, and we have built a story to service that.”

Cohan left the show following a ton of speculation about her future. She signed on to a lead role in ABC’s upcoming series Whiskey Cavalier and had said she felt too comfortable in the role of Maggie, noting, “Eight years is a really long time to be in those emotional depths. And it’s really fun for me because I never thought about drama as much when I started this career and I always kind of assumed I’d do like light fare.”

The Walking Dead will return for the back half of its current season in February.
