Will Forte is still angry that Warner Bros. shelved Coyote vs. Acme and hopes fans don’t forget what the studio did. As you may recall, the studio shelved the live-action and CGI hybrid film that starred Forte, John Cena and more for tax purposes. The decision drew outrage from creatives involved with the film as well as fans, and Forte was asked about it in an interview with MovieWeb where he was quite blunt in his take.
“My thoughts were that it’s f**king bulls**t,” Forte said. “It is such a delightful movie. It deserves so much better than it got. I can’t tell you possibly why the decision was made to not release it. But it makes my blood boil.”
He added, “Thank you for asking me about it because I like talking about the movie because I don’t want people to forget what [Warner Bros.] did to this. I appreciate them letting us make it, but don’t let us make this thing that we fall in love with and then not show it. I would understand if the thing sucked, but it’s really good. Maybe somehow we get to see it at some point. I hope people do. I was really proud of it.”
The $70 million film was originally set for released in July of 2023 but was replaced with Barbie and shelved, with no plans to release it. It considered selling off the rights after the outcry over the decision, but the sale never happened, reportedly because Warner Bros. Discovery refused to negotiate the price.
