The Justice League film has become almost a more mythical story than the film’s narrative itself between the replacement of Zack Snyder with Joss Whedon, Snyder coming back after to put together the forthcoming Zack Snyder’s Justice League, and of course the allegations by Ray Fisher that Whedon was abusive on the set of the film. Those investigations became the focus of Justice League related stories for a good while, and Snyder was asked about them in a recent New York Times interview.

Fisher’s complaints, which he took public last year, sparked an investigation which is believed to have cost Whedon is position as showrunner on HBO’s The Nevers. The Times asked Snyder if he was aware of the allegations when they were being raised on production of the film under Whedon.

“Not at the time,” he said. “The last thing they [the cast] wanted to do was call me, complaining about them having a hard time shooting. But in retrospect, do I feel bad that they had to go through that? I do. These guys are my friends, and they’re amazing actors, and they’re strong people. I want them to be taken care of and in a healthy situation. I wasn’t there, so your opinion on it is probably is as good as mine.”

The four-cut of the film, titled Zack Snyder’s Justice League arrives on Thursday on HBO Max.
