Sorry for no recap last week, I was running a youth group lock in at my church.
They hype Final Resolution by showing stills of the SHOCKING return of Abyss, AMW’s title win, Ultimate X and JJ retaining the title against Monty Brown
Tenay and West welcome us to Orlando, and put over the PPV. We head to earlier today; where there was a TNA Press Conference to announce the next world title match at Against All Odds.
They name Nash the #1 Contender, and have some fake reporters, Don West and DDP ask some questions. Best line was Nash saying, “I am probably the greatest world champion, on wrestling ability alone.” JJ is in it for the love of wrestling, Nash loves the money and says the title will bring him money. JJ and Nash stare down, talk smack and even shove each other a bit. At Against All Odds JJ says he will take down Nash. That is about it, sorry, VCR missed the first few minutes, so that is what I could remember.
HOW IS NASH THE #1 CONTENDER? He was the 1st one eliminated from the 3-way at the PPV, is the reverse rules or some shit? Makes no sense to me at all. Plus, even though I think JJ is a damn good wrestler, this is Nash people, it does not look pretty
Back to the ring!
Match #1 “The Fallen Angel” Christopher Daniels vs. Buck Quartermain
I wonder if there is any relation to Allen Quartermain? Daniels has the full Fallen Angel gear, sweetness!
Quartermain attacks right away, and gets a slam and elbow. Float over then a suplex on Daniels. Quartermain on the 2nd rope…misses the senton! ENZIGURI to Quartermain, picks him up…Last Rights on Quartermain and that is all @ 0:54.
Daniels on the mic, he says he is sick of all the protection the poster boy, AJ Styles gets. He says he is the most talented man in the X-Division and deserves a shot. AJ on his bets day is not nearly as good as the Fallen Angel. Here comes AJ! AJ says he has never been protected, since he has held every belt. He is and always has been a fighting champion. AJ says anytime and Daniels cuts him off and says THIS TIME AND PLACE! Daniels already had a grueling match, but he will give AJ 10-minutes to shut his mouth, if Daniels wins he gets the title shot at Against All Odds. Dusty is out with Traci and Trinity. Dusty ok’s the plan, and we have a main event.
Quick squash for Daniels to set up the match with AJ later.
Commercial time.
We are back with Tenay praising Dusty for making the match with AJ and Daniels. They made it themselves, Dusty just said OK, get it straight Tenay!
Match #2 Jeff Hardy vs. Lex Lovett
They stand off mid-ring and Lovett slaps Hardy. Hardy tackles Lovett and pounds away on him. Lovett fights back but Hardy gets a clothesline. Flat liner to Lovett, then off the ropes…sunset flip but Hardy, but Lovett up and has Hardy for a dragon sleeper, but Hardy reverses and hits the Twisted Stunner to Lovett. Hardy strips, I get ill and then he climbs the ropes…Swanton to Lovett and that is all @ 1:27.
Abyss is out! He bets down Hardy with right hands. BLACK HOLE SLAM! He tosses Lovett to the floor. The ref dives to the floor for safety! Abyss goes to leave, but changes his mind…and goes and gets a table! SLAM HIM THROUGH ABYSS! He sets it up on the floor, and then goes after the painted freak. Hardy tries to punch back, but to no avail. Abyss picks him up and PRESS SLAMS HIM FROM THE RING TO THE FLOOR! These 2 will meet at Against All Odds in a TLC MATCH!
Fine match, really just a backdrop for Abyss to kick his ass and set the table so to speak for the TLC match. Set the table…I kill me!
Commercial time.
We are back with Shane Douglas and AMW. They know they are the hunted now, but they say they own the greatest prize that a tag team can win. They welcome all hunters, and Team Canada was so great, they welcome a rematch. Kash and Dallas are here. Kash says he and Dallas have been 2-time tag team champions, and they deserve a title shot. They shove a bit and Storm says they deserve nothing, but they will give them the match because they back down from nobody.
Match #3 The Naturals (Stevens and Douglas) vs. Michael Shane & Frankie Kazarian
Stevens and Kaz to start, lockup and Kaz shoves him off. Lock up and Stevens takes him to the corner. The winner of this match will be a top contender for a tag title shot. Tag to Shane who gets 2 off a roll up. Off the ropes and Douglas hit Shane from behind and Stevens with a clothesline. They double-team Shane, and he is in trouble early. Douglas chokes him out over the middle rope and then a stiff kick from Douglas. Right hands to Shane but Kid Kash and Lance Hoyt (I guess Dallas will now be known as Lance Hoyt from now on) attack Stevens and it is a no contest @ 2:18.
Kash and Hoyt beat them all down a bit and AMW is out. Shane and Kaz escape and then the Naturals go after them; refs and security are out and we go to commercial as they continue to brawl.
Match was fine for the 2-minutes it was a match, and I though tit was going somewhere and then Kash and Hoyt ruined it. I do like them heating up the tag division and Kazarian and Shane do need to be in the mix, as well as the Naturals. I say it looks like a multi-team tag match at the PPV right now, because that would be something a bit different for the tag title match.
Commercial time.
We are back as Tenay rubs salt in my wound reminding me that Watts defeated Raven at the PPV.
Match #4 Raven vs. Cassidy Reilly
Raven attacks right away and throws multiple right hands at Reilly. He kicks him down in the corner and then repeatedly scrapes off his face with the boot. Raven up top and drives Reilly face into the mat with the knee behind his head. Snap mare to Reilly and then the ankle lock by Raven? Reilly to one foot…swung around…DDT by Raven! He covers but only 2 as he pulls him up, covers and pulls him up again! Covers a 3rd time and gets the win @ 1:39.
After the match, Raven grabs Reilly fingers and “breaks” them ala his crazy turn on Sunday Night Heat. He then grabs a chair and Dustin Rhodes saves Reilly!
Good match to let Raven loose and remind people he can win. I liked the crazy turn and it looks like they will set up a match with Dustin Rhodes so Raven can lose again.
Commercial time.
We are back with Shane Douglas and the 3LK. Konnan says Kaz and Shane seem to have a problem with Jeff Hammond, so they have a problem with the 3LK. James puts over Hammond, and says Hammond wants to wrestle. Wow, back to Nascar guys wrestling. Killings must be having flashbacks of Hermie Sadler.
Hammond is down to do commentary for the main event. Tenay says Dusty made a match with Jeff Hammond and BG James vs. Kazarian and James. Please god no; do NOT job out Kaz and Shane to them!
We see what happened earlier on Impact with Abyss and Hardy. Hammond then talks smack to Shane and Kaz…please shut up.
Here comes Daniels for the main event.
Now AJ.
Match #5 AJ Styles vs. “The Fallen Angel” Christopher Daniels: IF Daniels wins or lasts the 10-minutes, he gets an X-Title shot at the PPV.
They circle and lock up, and a headlock by Daniels. Reversal series now and AJ with a hammer lock. Side headlock takedown by AJ but Daniels with a head scissors. More mat reversals and Daniels with another headlock. Sweet drop kick by AJ as Daniels went off the ropes. AJ tries a plancha, stops, then leaps and Daniels catches him and gets an STO into the steel railing. SWEET! Daniels picks him up and goes to work him over on the floor as we go to commercial @ 2:00.
We are back @ 4:29 and Daniels is in control, but AJ is fighting back with back elbows. A choke by Daniels now on the ropes and then he slams AJ down. Cover now and Daniels gets 2. Knees to the back of AJ now, and Daniels picks him up only to knock him back down. Slam to AJ…lionsault on the back on AJ right into a version of the crossface, just with out the arm lock. AJ gets to the ropes and breaks the hold. Daniels clubs away on the back of AJ and milks the clock. AJ tries to fight back again and rocks Daniels a bit, but is taken down again. Snap mare by AJ…leaping Enziguri to Daniels! Both men are down and work to their feet. Both men up, clothesline by AJ. Another and the PELE KICK! AJ up top…springboard forearm shot gets 2! Asai DDT to Daniels gets 2! AJ tries a suplex, but Daniels turns it into a blue thunder driver for 2! AJ to the corner, CLOTHESLINE to Daniels! They are down again and the ref counts. AJ covers…1…2…NO! Roll up by AJ gets 2. Back slide to Daniels gets 2. Daniels runs a bit and grabs the ropes and that is all!
Great match that they took great care to put together. They didn’t give too much away, but made sure to make it a solid wrestling match.
10-minutes is up. Daniels is very proud of himself and grabs the mic. He says AJ’s 10-minutes is up, and he wants his title shot.
Dusty is out with Traci and Trinity. He asks the fans if they want to see the match at the PPV, and they say yes. Dusty says he has a title match, but there is a stipulation. At Against all Odds, Daniels vs. AJ in a 30-Minute Iron Man Match!
Good edition of Impact today. They already took great care to get the next PPV set up with a World Title match, X-Title match, Tag Title match, Abyss vs. Hardy in a TLC, the horrible tag and apparently Dustin vs. Raven. That is great to do, so they can focus on building and not making matches later. AJ vs. Daniels was great and is 2 great Impact main events in a row. I was very pleased today.
