Andrew Yang believes that Kevin Nash is correct in his suggestion that wrestlers should unionize through SAG-AFTRA. As you may recall, Nash made the comments on the latest episode of his Kliq This podcast while discussing TKO trying to restructure several talents’ contract to get them to take pay cuts. Nash noted:

“You can’t have it both ways. You can’t play Endeavor at the top with the 300% increases and 1099 the dock workers… If they’re going to play by those rules, let the boys play by the same rules… Go through the Screen Actors Guild. They’ll be more than happy to take their cut of your money. It won’t be 50%, but it’ll change the ballgame. one of the programs that’s written down, and you tell me that that program isn’t more heavily written and more produced than Curb Your Enthusiasm was when all those actors got SAG paid.”

Yang, the former presidential candidate and vocal wrestling fan, posted to Twitter to share a post with Nash’s comments. He wrote:

“Nash is right – WWE wrestlers participate in highly-rated scripted programming every week. They should be SAG-AFTRA members already.”

Pro wrestling has been resistant to the notion of a union for decades. Jesse Ventura, who has long been an advocate for a wrestler’s union, said back in 2024 that Vince McMahon’s exit from WWE may make a union more likely, noting, “That will depend on the wrestlers. Are the wrestlers willing to put their careers on the line? That’s what I did. You saw what happened to my career.”
