Backstage Details on WWE Planning a ‘Character Refresh’ for Sol Ruca

WrestleVotes Radio on Fightful Select has an update on WWE NXT Superstar Sol Ruca, who has been surging as of late. According to the report, the former NXT North American Women’s Champion is set to undergo a slight character refresh ahead of an upcoming jump to the main WWE roster.

The report also notes that her character refresh will include the introduction of a new entrance theme song. Additionally, a number of Sol Ruca’s internal supporters believe her time in NXT has run its course, and a main roster call-up is expected to be coming soon.

Fightful’s Sean Ross Sapp was also previously told that the wrestler is tentatively planned to be in the Chicago area around the time of WWE Elimination Chamber 2026. The event is scheduled for Feb. 28 at the United Center.

Sol Ruca is still currently part of the NXT roster. She and Zaria picked up a huge win on last week’s edition of NXT TV, beating WrenQC (Kendal Grey and Wren Sinclair). Since Sol Ruca scored the win, she’s now earned a shot at the WWE NXT Women’s Title, currently held by Jacy Jayne.

Unfortunately for Ruca, it appears earning a title shot has cost her friendship with Zaria, based on this week’s edition of NXT TV, as tensions had been rising between the two wrestlers for a while. Ruca also confronted Jacy Jayne ahead of their upcoming title clash.

Either way, Sol Ruca will challenge Jacy Jayne for the NXT Women’s Championship on next week’s episode of NXT. The show is slated for Tuesday, February 24, and it will air live on The CW.
