Backstage News on Randy Orton’s Title Reign on Smackdown (POTENTIAL SPOILERS)
– Sportskeeda’s Billi Bhatti reports that they have sources claiming that Randy Orton is unlikely to lose his WWE title this weekend at Backlash, and his title reign should not be expected to end anytime soon. According to the report, sources inside the WWE are claiming that “Orton is Vince’s guy,” and he will be holding onto the belt for the time being.
The report indicates that the plan is for Orton to beat Jinder Mahal and keep the title until at least Summerslam and possibly beyond that. Additionally, McMahon is said to have singled out Orton for his current push last August, and he was McMahon’s own hand-picked winner for the Royal Rumble this year. Also, McMahon was very impressed by Orton’s attitude after his recent return from the injury shelf and the way he sold for Brock Lesnar at Summerslam, where Orton was legitimately cut open by Lesnar and made Lesnar look like a monster.
