WWE announced this week that the 2027 Royal Rumble will take place in Glendale, Arizona, and a new report has some details on the matter. The company announced on Tuesday that next year’s iteration of the PLE will take place at the State Farm Stadium in Glendale in February, though a specific date was not revealed.
The announcement is part of a multi-year partnership between TKO, the Arizona Sports & Events Alliance and Legends Global. The Wrestling Observer Newsletter notes that the venue would have a capacity of around 58,000 in attendance for the show.
The announcement drew some speculation online as it came just a few weeks after AEW Full Gear was announced for nearby Phoenix, Arizona. WWE has a deserved reputation for scheduling NXT PLEs opposite AEW PPVs, and some suggested that it might be an attempt to siphon potential audiences from AEW. However, the report notes that Arizona sought out WWE, not the other way around, and is paying TKO to host the event there. TKO’s arrangement is a three-year deal with Arizona to run seven events there between WWE, the UFC, and Professional Bull Riding.
As noted, the 2027 iteration of the Royal Rumble will not be a two-night event despite interest within WWE in eventually expanding the show to two nights the way WrestleMania and SummerSlam have been.
