New details are available on Kazuchika Okada being replaced by Konosuke Takeshita in the scheduled AEW World Championship match on the upcoming episode of Dynamite.
As noted, at AEW Fairway to Hell, Don Callis announced that Kazuchika Okada had to return to Japan to deal with family business and thus would not be able to challenge Darby Allin for the AEW World Championship this coming Wednesday.
Callis further added that Konosuke Takeshita would step in for The Rainmaker against Allin on Dynamite. In the latest edition of Wrestling Observer Radio (WOR), Bryan Alvarez revealed that Kazuchika Okada’s visit to Japan isn’t a part of a storyline and that it’s a legitimate change.
“This is not an angle. He did legitimately have to go back to Japan for some family business. This was a legitimate change,” Alvarez said.
Okada is set to defend his AEW International Championship against Takeshita at Double or Nothing later this month. As of this writing, the status of the scheduled bout remains unchanged. 411Mania will provide an update on its status as and when it’s available.
Meanwhile, Darby Allin notched up another successful defense of his title at Fairway to Hell, defeating PAC in a No Count Out match. He will look to continue his winning run at the expense of Konosuke Takeshita this coming Wednesday.
