JBL Says Danhausen Has Found Lightning In A Bottle

On the latest episode of Something To Wrestle With, JBL praised Danhausen’s mainstream crossover appeal – including an appearance at the NBA Finals — and compared him to rare comedic talents like R-Truth, while cautioning that performers like him come along only a few times a generation. You can check out his comments below:
On Danhausen:
“We said it would happen — that Danhausen was going to be at the NBA Finals, and he was there, and he did a great job. People love stuff like this. I don’t care where he comes from. Wrestling is huge right now, and this association with ESPN is one of the best deals ever made in the history of professional wrestling. Whether he’s from a show, from Broadway, whatever — he has caught fire, and the NBA loves this guy, for good reason. He’s really talented and good at what he does, and people love the Knicks right now. I think Danhausen is going to be a huge part of this.”
On Special Talents:
“People look at the old days and say, ‘Man, we needed like 25 Shawn Michaels’ — we didn’t have 25, we had one. We had one Eddie Guerrero, one Undertaker, and they’ve got one Danhausen. This guy is unbelievably talented; he’s found lightning in a bottle.”
On Comedy in Wrestling:
“There are very few guys out there who can do stuff like this — a Santino Marella who can spin a word, guys like an R-Truth who can create unbelievable comedy with anybody he’s with, because they’re very smart and very good at what they do. They have a knack for it. There are a lot of smart guys out there, but very few smart guys who can do wrestling, and very few who can get over like Danhausen. Does it open up opportunities for more? Yes. Are we going to see a bunch more? I’d bet against it. Hopefully, we do.”
