AEW X NJPW Forbidden Door 2026 is just a week away. The crossover pay-per-view, featuring talents from AEW, NJPW, CMLL, and STARDOM, will take place at the SAP Center in San Jose, California, next Sunday.
Despite the show being just a week away, a new report from Fightful Select notes that several talents across promotions still don’t know what they’ll do, if anything, at Forbidden Door 2026.
However, some talent told Fightful that this isn’t something that’s out of the ordinary, and they expect to be informed about their respective matches during the week of the show.
The report also notes that Gabe Kidd was initially expected to play a huge role at this year’s Forbidden Door before a shoulder injury at Dynasty 2026 put paid to those plans. Kidd returned to NJPW last week and declared himself for the upcoming G1 Climax. However, according to the report, he was originally expected to play off his comments toward New Japan Pro-Wrestling for Forbidden Door. Furthermore, there is currently no update on whether Kidd is planned for the June 28 event or not.
The report cites sources within AEW as claiming that plans for the upcoming event are being kept “close to the vest.”
