Backstage Update on Richard Holliday to WWE

We’ve been hearing word since at least July that WWE has been interested in signing Richard Holliday. Holliday added to the speculation when he left his boots in the ring at a GCW show, indicating he was done with them.

This followed interest from TNA in January, and a WWE tryout after he returned to action following a battle with cancer.

Today, the latest word from Sean Ross Sapp in a Fightful Debunkathon post is that the same sources who’ve been telling him that WWE has interest in Holliday are still talking about him…but there’s been no actual movement on bringing him in.

Holliday, who calls himself the “Most Marketable,” frequently tries to interact with WWE-related names on social media like Matt Cardona and Sgt. Slaughter. Holliday previously wrestled for AEW and MLW.

Maybe he shouldn’t have left those boots in the ring so soon, or maybe creative is just waiting for the right moment to bring Holliday in to NXT. Holliday has been an indie wrestler for approximately a decade and was trained under Paul Roma. He’s best known to date for his MLW stint, where he teamed with MJF to feud with Teddy Hart and his Foundation.

The good news for him is that he is still being talked about, anyway.
