Bruce Prichard recently looked back on WWE’s association with Playboy in the late 1990s and 2000s. The two companies worked together with a number of women in WWE posing for the magazine, and Prichard talked about the association between the two companies in an episode of Something To Wrestle With that was released midway through last week, which was before the lawsuit filed against Vince McMahon, John Laurinaitis and WWE accusing McMahon of sex trafficking, sexual assault and more. You can see a couple of highlights below, courtesy of Wrestling Inc:

On the fit between WWE and Playboy at the time: “I think it was natural. You’ve got beautiful women that are athletic women that are on television every week that are definitely Playboy worthy, if not better than a lot of Playboy models. I think it was a natural [fit], and it probably wouldn’t have happened because it was an era in which you were playing to families… But Playboy had also cleaned up its act, to where they tried not to be as risque as, let’s say Hustler or other magazines that were out there. They tried to be a little more upscale…In my opinion, it was a marriage that was waiting to happen and a natural one.”

On the partnership ending when WWE moved into the PG era: “Everything runs its course. There was no big blow up, there was no dispute or anything like that. It just was time.”
