Csonka’s WWE 205 Live Review 12.05.17

OFFICIAL RESULTS
– Cedric Alexander defeated Noam Dar @ 5:50 via pin [**]
– Brian Kendrick defeated Gran Metalik @ 5:49 via pin [**½]
– Rich Swann defeated Tony Nese @ 8:05 via pin [**½]

– Follow all of my reviews at this link.

– We get highlights of Enzo hyping up the Zo train on Raw; Gulak won his match and will face Swann on Monday for a shot at the Cruiserweight title.

– Drew Gulak makes his way out to the ring. Gulak welcomes us to he show, and has some important things to tell us, from his mentor Enzo Amore. He is in charge tonight while Enzo is out of the country. He will beat Swann on Monday, and earn a shot at the cruiserweight title. Enzo even gave him his mic to use, and Gulak has a PowerPoint presentation. Cedric interrupts him, breaking one of Gulak’s rules, no respect I tell ya.

– Gulak says he has delegated his match to someone else, and that is Noam Dar.

– Gulak joins commentary.

Cedric Alexander vs. Noam Dar: The feud that will not end. They work to the corner, and Dar begs off. They work back and forth, Alexander hits a head scissors and dropkick. Alexander hits a sidekick, but Dar bails to the floor. Alexander follows, but Dar cuts him off and Gulak is pleased. Back in and Dar covers for 2. He then grounds the action and works the arm, and then lays the boots to Alexander. Alexander cuts off Dar with a back elbow, and the springboard clothesline follows for 2. Alexander drops the elbow pads, but Dar fires back with forearms and then takes out the legs. Dar heads up top and Gulak yells at him for doing so. “YOU COME DOWN NOW!” Dar drops down and Alexander gets a backslide for 2. The back handspring kick follows and the lumbar check puts Dar away. Cedric Alexander defeated Noam Dar @ 5:50 via pin [**] This was ok, as Dar delivered his usual bland outing.

– They hype next month’s 205 Live live events.

– Ali, Swann, and Tozawa are excited for the tour. They joke about Gulak making them miss Enzo. Swann is now interviewed, and says tonight Gulak knows he can’t handle him, and is making him face Nese so that he isn’t 100% against him on Monday. He’s going to do what he does best tonight.

Brian Kendrick vs. Gran Metalik: Gallagher is out with Kendrick. They attacked Kalisto last week, and are now looking to take out their frustrations on Metalik tonight. Kalisto isn’t here tonight, which seems like bad news for Metalik. Kendrick attacks, but Metalik picks up the pace and hits a lucha arm drag. Kendrick misses the attack, more arm drags by Metalik and follows with a missile dropkick. The suicide dive wipes out Gallagher. Back in and Metalik hits an enziguri and dropkick, Kendrick pulls him to the floor and sends him into the crowd. Metalik runs and hits a RANA, jumping over the barricade. Back in they go, and Metalik gets tripped up by Gallagher. Kendrick dropkicks Metalik to the floor, and Kendrick follows, slamming Metalik to the LED board. Back in and Kendrick grounds the action, lays in strikes and chokes him out in the ropes. Kendrick now lays in chops, follows with forearms but Metalik counters a powerbomb into a sunset flip. Metalik gets a roll up for 2. Kendrick finally cuts him off with an uppercut, Metalik fights off sliced bread, but Kendrick slams him to the post and follows with knee strikes; the captain’s hook finishes things. Brian Kendrick defeated Gran Metalik @ 5:49 via pin [**½] These two have worked on Main Event together, and brought some of that chemistry here tonight. It was a perfectly average match at the end of the day, but better than the opener. It’s ironic that Kendrick is the one complaining about not getting chances, while Metalik is right there.

– We see Enzo’s encounter with Nia Jax on Raw last night. And now for a trip down memory lane…

– Dar, Nese, and Daivari meet with Gulak. Daivari calls bullshit on this, as he counts his money. Gulak says they are like the Justice League; Enzo is Superman, Gulak is Batman, Nese is Aqua Man, Dar is the Flash and Daivari is Wonder Woman, because he’s a fierce warrior with good fashion sense.

– Hideo Itami is coming soon.

– Gulak and Alexander are at ringside.

Rich Swann vs. Tony Nese: Nese takes time to pose, and now they lock up. Nese takes control, laying in rights and kicks. Swann picks up the pace, hits a head scissors and they work back and forth, with Nese tripping Swann to the floor, Swann hits an apron superkick and 450 dive off of the second rope. Alexander keeps Gulak away from Swann, but in the confusion, Nese attacks Swann and rolls him back in. Nese cuts off a sunset flip, kicking Swann in the head and locks on a body scissors. Swann escapes, but Nese cuts him off with a charging elbow, covering for 2. Nese sets Swann in the tree of WHOA, Gulak pulls Swann’s hair and Nese then does bicycle crunches, kicking away at Swann. Nese then misses a springboard moonsault, and Swann fires up and makes his comeback with clotheslines. The RANA follows for 2. Nese battles back, hitting the pump handle Michinoku driver for 2. They now trade strikes and chops, Swann hits a running kick, but Nese cuts him off with kick and knee strikes. Swann hits the superkick, heads up top and the Phoenix splash finishes things. Rich Swann defeated Tony Nese @ 8:05 via pin [**½] They got more time than the previous two matches, but the crowd wasn’t into it and it felt like a really dialed back effort, when these two are capable of so much more. It was a disappointment.

– Post match, Dar and Daivari arrive, they all surround Alexander and Swann, but Lai and Tozawa arrive and even the odds. Everyone brawls, with the babyfaces standing tall. There was no heat at all to that segment.

– End Scene.

– Thanks for reading.

The final score: review Not So Good

Much like Smackdown, WWE 205 Live was a rather lifeless show, minus the fun stuff from Gulak. They did a solid job of setting the stage for Gulak vs. Swann on Monday, but with all of the important matches happening on Raw the last two weeks, 205 Live has felt almost meaningless, with only minor work done to add to the angles on Raw.
