Deonna Purrazzo recently teamed up with Madison Rayne for a victory in ROH, and Purrazzo thinks they could potentially have a good run at the AEW Women’s Tag Team Championships. Purrazzo and Rayne have been friends for years. While Rayne’s matches have been infrequent as of late, they joined forces on the December 11th episode of ROH on HonorClub to beat Billie Starks and Diamante.

Purrazzo spoke with Gabby AF for a new interview and discussed how the match came about. She also spoke about her friendship with Rayne and how she’d like to team with her more. You can see highlights below:

On How The Match Came About:

“So we were in Columbus for [ROH] Final Battle, and I actually was supposed to have the next day off. My niece was turning two, it was her birthday party. And so, I wasn’t supposed to be at Collision in Columbus.

“Literally as I’m about to walk through the curtain, Billie and I started the pay-per-view. Tony pokes his head around and is like, ‘So, what if — Madison, this is your hometown? What if you and Deonna tag tomorrow?’ And I was like, ‘Do you need me to be here? Because I’m not supposed to, but I’m more I’m more than happy to be here for that, 1000%.'”

On Her Friendship With Rayne:

“And yes, Madison, I call her my fairy godsister. I don’t want to get emotional, but she literally has believed in me as a human being and a professional wrestler in so many more instances than I’ve believed in myself. She’s the reason I went to TNA, she’s the reason I got a job in TNA. She’s a large part of the reason I got an opportunity to get a job at AEW. And so there was no way I was going to pass up on that opportunity, because she doesn’t wrestle that much anymore.

“For her to come back in her hometown and to do that was really exciting. And I’m so glad I got to be a part of it, and I’m also excited to see where it goes.:

On Possibly Teaming Up With Rayne More:

“Your guess is as good as mine; I would love to. I think that again, we just have — we’re best friends. We talk all the time, we’ve known each other for got to be almost 10 years now. And we’ve been in every company at some point together in some dynamic. So I think that there’s that natural chemistry that we also have, just being so close that will come alive in the ring if we get more opportunities.

“Plus, we have this brand new — AEW also just crowned the first ever Women’s Tag Team Champion. We could contend for those. I think we have a great shot at that.”
