Eric Bischoff has shared his perspective on the upcoming boxing match between Anthony Joshua and Jake Paul, calling it a pivotal moment that may define Paul’s standing in the sport. The WWE Hall of Famer addressed the match during a recent interview with Action Network, noting that the bout represents a major step in evaluating Paul’s position in professional boxing.

After weeks of speculation, Jake Paul will fight Anthony Joshua at the Kaseya Center in Miami, Florida, USA, on December 19, 2025. Eric Bischoff explained that Jake Paul has built a strong presence through previous fights and online influence. However, Bischoff pointed out that many observers still question how Paul measures up against top-tier opponents. He said the level of competition Paul has faced so far has cast doubt on his overall credibility.

“I’m excited. I think it’s put up or shut up for Mr. Paul. There’s a lot of people that really look at Jake Paul as a legitimate boxer. Now, how legitimate is subjective to a degree. And you could argue that he hasn’t really fought the types of names that would establish him as a legitimate fighter at his weight. But this will. This fight will.”

He stated that the match with Joshua is likely to address these questions more directly than Paul’s earlier bouts. Bischoff also acknowledged Paul’s decision to take the fight, noting that choosing an opponent with Joshua’s track record presents a notable challenge.

“We’ll find out whether the influencer’s the real deal or not. And I have nothing but admiration for Paul for doing it. It’s a big risk for him.”

The match is expected to draw interest from boxing fans, casual viewers, and audiences familiar with Paul’s media presence.
